Scarecrow Contest Winners Announced

The results are in and the winners of the First Annual Deep River Scarecrow Contest have been chosen! The Deep River Merchants Association, the Deep River Garden Club and the Deep River Parks & Recreation Department extend their thanks to everyone for their participation, whether they built a scarecrow or visited downtown to view the creepy creations and support local businesses. The scarecrows will be back next year, and remember it is never too early to start planning your scarecrow!

13th Annual Jams for Cans Concert (11-10-18)

Every year, Face Arts Music holds this family-friendly event to assist with stocking the Deep River Food Pantry for the winter months. Enjoy the music and simple snacks provided for performers and the audience. Admission is 5 or more non-perishable food items per person.
WHEN: Saturday, November 10, 2018, from 5 to 10:30 PM
                              
WHERE: Deep River Ambulance Building, 284 West Elm Street, Deep River, CT 

ITEMS NEEDED: Tuna, cranberry items, canned soups, dry goods, boxed mac ‘n’ cheese, peanut butter, jellies or jams, personal hygiene items, supermarket gift cards to allow those benefitting to purchase fresh foods. (No breakable containers, please.) Monetary donations are also welcome.

First Annual Deep River Scarecrow Contest (10-27-18)

Just one of our town festivities for the month of October! Check out the creative scarecrows about town and learn who gets the bragging rights when winners are announced at the Deep River Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 27, at 6 pm at Devitt Field, 15 Southworth Street in Deep River.

Hosted by the Deep River Merchants, the Deep River Garden Club and the Parks & Recreation Department.

2018 Family Day

Each year, the merchants in Deep River partner with the town to create a day of fun for residents, neighbors and visitors! Join the fun on Saturday, September 15, that starts with the Fife and Drum Run, continues with merchant events and carnival, the afternoon Pet Parade and music and fireworks in the evening. More details to come!

Dough on Main Goes to the Farmers Markets

Dough On Main will be offering pasta and sauces at the
• Killingworth Farmers Market every Wednesday
through the end of August from 4-6 pm,
Route 81 between the town offices and the library.
• Higganum Farmers Market on Saturday, July 1 from 9 am – 2 pm.
Shop your local market, then head home and enjoy!

Deep River Ancient Muster on July 20 & 21, 2018

Come down to Deep River for the annual DEEP RIVER ANCIENT MUSTER
Friday and Saturday July 20th and 21st.

The Muster takes place on Devitt Field, 15 Southworth Street and the Parade takes place along Main Street in the center of town.

Join us for a fun filled weekend of music and activities for the entire family! The Deep River Ancient Muster is the oldest and largest gathering of fife and drum participants and enthusiasts in the world … “The Granddaddy of All Musters.”

  • Tattoo – Friday evening at 7 pm at Devitt Field
  • Parade – Saturday at 11 am on Main Street
  • Muster – Saturday immediately following the parade at Devitt Field
